I was diagnosed recently with PCOS, and I was just so confused on what all the condition even entailed. I think what freaked me out the most was the fact that I was told I’d have to deal with it the rest of my life! But through finding support through people who knew a lot about the condition and through people that have it, I now have a support system that can help me through the bad days and remind me that this doesn’t define me! It helps to have others who know what you’re going through there to remind you that things can only get better from your diagnosis.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 and at first it was a lot to process. There was a lot of information to take in and a lot of research to be done on what I could do to improve my symptoms. It took my mom and I years to begin to understand what I needed to help improve my PCOS, and we still are learning more information about this condition. Being diagnosed at such a young age made me feel alone because I didn’t know anyone around my age who had this condition. Eventually I found some online support groups and found some girls around my age. Knowing that there are other girls around my age that I can lean on for support and advice helps make me feel make me feel less alone.

And while there are still days where I struggle with this condition, I have support that I can lean on and those people make me feel hopeful that some day I will be able to reverse my symptoms. This condition may be hard, but there is help out there and there are many women out there that are walking along beside you in their own PCOS journey.
